Overall this is a very pleasing photo. The lighting shines very nicely on the surface of the watermelon, the image is almost flawlessly centered, the sky is such a magnificent background color for the fruit, and the focus is sharp and clear. I feel the darkness of the shadow cast by the watermelon seems a bit harsh, but of course that can't really be helped much in natural lighting. The watermelon itself is lovely, and you seem to have picked just the perfect one to do a picture like this with. However I feel the idea is overused a little bit. I'm well aware that it's usually done with apples and oranges, not particularly watermelons, however it's still a heart shape cut into a piece of fruit. Perhaps if you had done something else to the watermelon, it would seem more original. But I don't think it matters all too much, because this is such a lovely picture anyhow. All in all, wonderful piece, I hope this helps you in your photography.
"This Is Not an Apple" is a very well done and thought shot. The lightning is perfect, the shot is greatly centered, and its concept is creative. Though, this concept has been seen around alot in other fruits such as apples, oranges, and many others, this is the first time I see it in a watermelon. Thus, the title makes sense. It's great to see that people experiment on making concepts different from the others. The colors are vivid and clear. I think this piece should be on everyones' favorite because it deserves to. It's an amazing shot. As easy as that.
