This deviation was quite original. I had never expected anyone to do anything like it. In fact, I myself never once thought of the idea of how the color inside a watermelon could possibly have been used to color a heart. For this reason, I must give this deviation five stars for originality.
This deviation also expresses the idea, theme, and motif of love very strongly. Notice how the heart, watermelon, arms, and even sky seem to fade with highlights and lowlights and shadow and shine. This shows the two "faces" of love, both something bright and cheery and dark, gloomy, and mysterious at the same time. This merits a 5 in vision.
This watermelon was cut in a way that is much better than what any of us can do. Most of us cut watermelons in half, and then in pieces, and even with those simple "cut right across" cuts our hands shake and the edge is ruined (not that anyone would care -- they just want a slice of red, dripping, juicy watermelon). This, however, has a cut in the shape of a perfect heart, with the only imperfection on the inside -- there is a diagonal line going across the heart. Of course, it is possible to claim that this was intended, creating an inverse of the "puffy heart effect" or even to show how two people must unite to create love. Whatever the reason, I must give this a deviation a 5 for technique.
This deviation blows my mind. Since my mind is blown and I am unable to think any further, I am now clicking (mindlessly) the 5 star rating in impact.
And now I don't know what is wrong with me. I have never given anyone a five out of five in all four categories. Congratulations.

"This Is Not an Apple" is a very well done and thought shot. The lightning is perfect, the shot is greatly centered, and its concept is creative. Though, this concept has been seen around alot in other fruits such as apples, oranges, and many others, this is the first time I see it in a watermelon. Thus, the title makes sense. It's great to see that people experiment on making concepts different from the others. The colors are vivid and clear. I think this piece should be on everyones' favorite because it deserves to. It's an amazing shot. As easy as that.
